Day 3 of the Heritage Open Days Sketch Walks was principally a visit to the Lit & Phil. Officially opened its handsome neoclassical home in 1825, and was Initially a place where people would meet to discuss and debate the matters of the day, the collection of books grew and artefacts and curiosities gathered. Next door are the equally fascinating Common Room (formerly the Mining Institute and Bolbec Hall. The second destination was all about the theatres and music halls of Newcastle. Our destination is the Tyne Theatre and opera House. Along the way we will visit and sketch the Grainger Music Hall where Charles Dickens performed in his one man shows. We will also be visiting Balmbra's Music Hall, Theatre Royal, Westgate Cinema, and anything else we discover along the way. We also took a few detours to visit other secret places along the way and we are grateful to the wonderful County Hotel for taking us in again and showing us around some of their function rooms.
