We have created a suite of welcome and art based installations for the RSPB site at Loch Leven. Whilst the brief required welcome signage, visitor signage and visitor centre refresh we were able to work with the client team and Abound Design a some creative response to the brief.
The monumental signage was really all about the birds and the signature shapes for the external signage was based on a V-formation - referencing the shape that geese make, especially when they migrate in numbers.
We designed a swallow themed gate which when shut allows swallows to fly in and out of the courtyard. This has a really complex and ornate laser cutting pattern and is designed to tell as story without words.
To create the design we sketched it in pencil first then scanned into an iPad and worked in Conceptsapp. Once this drawing was done and cleaned up it was transferred into Adobe Illustrator and converted to a DXF ready for sending to the laser cutter. A lot of technical work was done at this stage and thanks to Russell at Abound a clean DXF was created for the laser cutting. And Russell managed the fabrication and installation.
